ClinCapture Awarded WHO Drug Medical Coding Certification

Press Release | Clinovo | August 26, 2014

ClinCapture by Clinovo becomes the first Open Source Electronic Data Capture (EDC) System to receive the WHO Drug Dictionaries Medical Coding Certification by Uppsala Monitoring Center (UMC).

Sunnyvale, CA (PRWEB) August 26, 2014--Clinovo, the leading technology-focused Contract Research Organization (CRO) headquartered in Sunnyvale (CA), has officially received the WHO Drug Dictionaries Medical Coding certification. With this milestone, ClinCapture becomes the first open source EDC system to be WHO Drug certified. The certification was awarded by the Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC).

ClinCapture is one of the few Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems to be awarded the WHO Drug Dictionary Medical Coding Certification. UMC is the global leader in pharmacovigilance and is mandated by the World Health Organization (WHO) to carry on the WHO Drug program and maintain the WHO Drug medical dictionaries. Clinovo’s implementation of the WHO Drug Dictionaries has been validated by the Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC) as performing correctly in ClinCapture.

“ClinCapture’s medical coding module has received unprecedented interest from Clinovo's customers and prospects since its official release” claims Marc Desgrousilliers, Clinovo’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO). “We are proud to receive the official WHO Drug certification”.

ClinCapture’s Medical Coding module was developed by Clinovo in collaboration with BioPortal, the global repository of biomedical ontologies from Stanford. ClinCapture’s medical coding module supports multiple medical coding dictionaries, including WHO Drug, MedDRA, ICD9 and ICD10. ClinCapture also supports auto-coding if a synonym already exists for a medical term.

Marc Desgrousilliers, CTO at Clinovo, will give a live demonstration of ClinCapture's Medical Coding module on Friday, August 29th at 10am PDT. Ray Fergerson, Project Manager at BioPortal, the global repository of biomedical ontologies from Stanford, and Mikael Nilsson, Sales Engineer at Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC) will be available to answer questions from the attendees. Registration is now open at clinovo.com/webinars.

The WHO Drug Dictionaries identify drug names, active ingredients, and therapeutic use in the course of clinical trials and drug safety surveillance. The WHO Drug Dictionaries are utilized by Pharmaceutical Companies, Clinical Research Organizations (CROs), and Regulatory Authorities.
