Brito's talk will be hosted by Fabian Lopez during his popular vxJourney webinar series. Brito will talk about the following VistA enhancement applications:

• vxPatient Picture provides a patient picture capture process that will improve the service level to your customers and will provide an extra layer of validation and verification to improve the quality of care.
• vxPatient Search Tool allows clinicians to identify and isolate text data within a patient’s record in real time.
• vxImmunizations allows clinicians to document all immunizations, including actual dosages, CVX codes, and manufacturer of immunizations.

The VistA community is holding its 30th VistA Community Meeting at the UC Davis Sacramento Campus January 16-18. The meeting is going to be addressed by a wide range of speakers, from current and former top officials of the US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and Indian Health Service (IHS), to leading innovators for the Vista and RPMS EHRs. The goal of these meetings is to create a collaborative conference where VistA Community can network and collaborate, i.e., to share ideas and work, with the objective of moving VistA & the VistA community forward. UC Davis School of Medicine, is providing the facilities for the meeting.

The IBM Center for The Business of Government is a successful advocate for the improvement of the effectiveness of government business that focuses on the future of operation and management. Recently, the center published a scholarly work comprised of case studies in healthcare entitled “Making Open Innovation Ecosystems Work.” It was written by a team of distinguished academics including Donald E. Gary Parker, Director of the Meaningful Use Administration at Alabama Medicaid Agency, will outline the efforts of the Data Accessibility and eXtract work group (DAX) and its decision to conduct a broader review of the eCQM analytics landscape. The Data Acccessibility and eXtract work group (DAX) was formed to orchestrate work efforts that identify and harness methods, tools, and cooperation from EHR vendors and their integrators to provide accessibility to the captured clinical data within these same EHR systems to support clinical decisions and expansive health care analytics.

Established in January 2017, this group will implement and maintain a VistA/eHMP Cloud demonstration site using Microsoft Azure.  The centerpiece of this implementation will be an operating demo of VistA with eHMP, which will serve as a testbed and proof-of-concept.  In addition, facilities will be made available for developer sandboxes and for creation of curated test data in cooperation with university medical and nursing students.
