Advancing User Experience Research To Facilitate And Enable Patient Centered Research: Current State And Future Directions
Human beings possess well-documented strengths in pattern recognition and higher-order reasoning. This allows individuals to interpret complex data sets in ways that remain difficult to reproduce using computers. Given these capabilities, it is important to present data in a manner that supports such human-computer interaction, and is pertinent to patient-centered research, where investigators frequently need to analyze multidimensional data sets derived from a variety of heterogeneous sources. An overarching domain of innovation focusing on user experience (UX), which can include areas such as human factors, workflow evaluation, human-computer interaction, and data visualization, has the potential to support the aforementioned needs.
