DoD EHR 'Substantially' Defined In Latest Draft RFP
After several draft versions, a request for proposal for the Defense Department's highly-anticipated electronic health record is taking shape. Draft solicitations for the DoD's Healthcare Management System Modernization, or DHMSM, have been updated several times since DoD issued its first acquisition draft document in January. Version 3 of the draft proposal was published June 12 to the Navy Department's contracting platform.
DoD plans to host DHMSM (pronounced DIM-sum) in a Defense Information Systems Agency datacenter. The latest version outlines a plan for calculating datacenter and hosting costs that DISA will charge the department for the proposed solution. This version also slightly narrows the scope of DHMSM by eliminating the need for a veterinary medicine system for tracking military animals.
"This third draft release substantially defines the government's anticipated requirements to be ultimately conveyed in the final DHMSM solicitation," says its program manager, Capt. John Windom, in a cover letter (pdf) dated June 9.
