Alex Hill is the VP Corporate Development at CAV Systems Ltd. CAV Systems is one of Israel’s leading enterprise software companies. For four decades, the company has delivered organizational management systems in the Finance and Banking, Wholesale Distribution, Manufacturing, and Tourism sectors. The company’s entry into the US market resulted from the growing recognition of their expertise and tools for projects where Caché (MUMPS) systems are involved.
With much of US healthcare data stored in proprietary databases such as InterSystems’ Caché® and MEDITECH MIISTM, there is growing interest in tools offering more convenient and more open SQL access to such live databases. CAV Systems offers a simple yet elegant solution – Evolve Replicator – that adopts a “replica” approach whereby the Caché database – in whole or in part – is replicated in the form of a brand-name SQL relational database that is refreshed at user-specified intervals including up to near real-time. The replica can be any of the brand name databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL. This approach effectively makes clinical and other data accessible on a platform that is separate from the live production platform for use with the vast array of Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) application packages for business intelligence (BI), data analysis, and reporting. It also opens up the data for custom application development of functions not included in EHR vendor packages.
The CAV Systems solution has been adopted by two highly respected US sites, namely, MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX and Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare in St. Paul, MN. The solution has also been adopted for use in several large-scale enterprise projects in Israel in the financial and banking sectors where issues of data integrity, data privacy and system reliability are as demanding as those in the healthcare sector.
Alex has extensive hands-on experience in early-stage high-tech ventures in US, UK and Israel. This experience ranges from preparation of business plans, market-positioning in volatile markets, active involvement in initial market penetration, to the establishing reference sites. He has repeatedly demonstrated the ability to achieve results with limited human and financial resources. In sum, he brings real-world experience of creating market-awareness to the table.
