Barry Dickman

Barry Dickman is Senior Consultant, AEGIS.net, Inc. He has more than 25 years as an industry thought leader on issues pertaining to Project Management, Software Functional and Performance Testing, Application Design/ Development, and Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) and Organizational Performance/Process Improvement.

Mr. Dickman currently works with AEGIS.net, Inc., a CMMI Maturity Level 3 rated, ISO 9001:2008 certified small business and premier provider of Information Technology consulting services to Federal Civilian, Defense and Commercial sector clients. Mr. Dickman is a hands-on cross-functional leader who energizes and managed the successful delivery of consulting services and information technology solutions to the Federal and commercial markets.

Mr. Dickman is a trusted advisor and has an established track record of leading major business and technology initiatives ranging from $400K to $40M that increased revenues, maximized profits and improved operational performance. Mr. Dickman is responsible for tactical implementation and quality assurance of solutions and services. He supports various activities and communities of interest with senior-level consulting services with the Department of Defense (DoD), Defense Health Agency (DHA), Veterans Affairs (VA) and Health & Human Services (HHS) on health information technology initiatives, including the electronic health record and health information exchange.

Mr. Dickman helps to ensure that projects & staff adhere to a process improvement approaches embodying the AEGIS CMMI-appraised process methodology ultimately providing clients with the essential elements of effective processes that improve their performance. As an effective communicator and leader, Mr. Dickman consistently demonstrates his ability to institute and carry out initiatives that drive positive change, improve efficiency and increased profitability. He brings extensive experience, functional knowledge and management skills to all consulting assignments.

Mr. Dickman currently serves at the elected President to the Board of the Directors for the local chapter of the Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) – National Capital Area (NCA). He has previously held positions on the Board as Secretary and Vice-President.

Mr. Dickman volunteer community interests include the role of Immediate Past-President of the Board of Directors for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Washington Field Office (WFO) Citizens Academy Alumni Association. The CAAA is a community based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, distinct and separate from the FBI, dedicated to working with the FBI to enhance the quality of life in the Washington DC metropolitan area. The goal of the organization is to foster relationships and understanding between the FBI WFO and the community to improve the FBI’s ability to solve & detect crimes.

The CAAA funds several important programs in support of the WFO Community Outreach Program including the Junior Special Agent, Adopt-a-School and Mentoring programs in the DC metro area public schools. These programs focus on at-risk students at seven adopted schools and hands on opportunities to interact with the students, guide them, foster a positive environment for learning, and model positive behavior.

Prior to joining AEGIS, Mr. Dickman held senior level positions helping to create business solutions that help meet the healthcare industry's top challenges. Mr. Dickman has authored numerous papers, articles, newsletters and blogs. Mr. Dickman holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Maryland, as well as a Masters of Health Services Administration from The George Washington University, School of Business and Public Management. Mr. Dickman is an active member of the HIMSS, ACT-IAC and InfraGard. Mr. Dickman is a credentialed and trained member of the Office of the Civilian Volunteer Medical Reserve Corps (OCVMRC), Federal Deployment Operations. In addition Mr. Dickman also serves as an active member and Incident Coordinator with the Fairfax Medical Reserve Corps (MRC).

Mr. Dickman lives in Falls Church, Virginia with his wife and two daughters. When not at work you can regularly find him on the basketball or tennis court.
