The conference will focus on tools used by several open source projects, communities, and engineering teams to track and analyze their development activities, communities health, diversity, risk, and value. The conference will showcase CHAOSS updates, use cases, and hands-on workshops for developers, community managers, project managers, and anyone interested in measuring open source project health.

FOSS4G 2018
The annual FOSS4G conference is the largest global gathering focused on open source geospatial software. FOSS4G brings together developers, users, decision-makers and observers from a broad spectrum of organizations and fields of operation. Through six days of workshops, presentations, discussions, and cooperation, FOSS4G participants create effective and relevant geospatial products, standards, and protocols. FOSS4G has been held all over the world and draws attendees from over 40 countries. Bonn, Germany hosted the conference in 2016. Last year Boston, Massachusetts, USA hosted. In 2018, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania will host.

Open Source JDBC Access to VistA FileMan Data
Accessing VistA data using off the shelf tools has historically been hard or expensive to do. With the set of tools YottaDB is developing as an Open Source Project VistA data can be mapped to relational table views. In this presentation Christopher will demonstrate the tools available, where to find the code, how to get started with the application, and how to contribute to its development.

2018 Public Health Informatics Conference
It’s been nearly two years since the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) released its multi-article supplement, “Public Health Informatics: A Call to Action,” in the Journal of Public Health Management and Practice. Since then, it’s only become clearer that to effectively serve communities in today’s information-driven world, public health – and its cross-sector partners – must advance and strengthen its capability to transform data into action (e.g., services, interventions, and policies). But forging that capability is no easy feat. Challenges such as underdeveloped information technology (IT) infrastructure, lack of training, and insufficient workforce capacity have made public health informatics seem either intimidating or vastly inaccessible to public health professionals. Despite this, there is a role for informatics within every health department. AIRA 2018 National Meeting

OSEHRA 2018 Open Source Summit
The Open Source Electronic Health Record Alliance (OSEHRA) will host its 7th Annual Open Source Summit: The Open Road for Government Innovation from Wednesday, July 18 through Friday, July 20, 2018 at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center. This year’s three-day Summit will highlight open source initiatives across Federal and State agencies, and the increasing level of public-private partnership in major programs. It will also explore emerging hybrid proprietary/open source efforts such as the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) and how to optimize open source utilization and community involvement.

One-Click Deployment of VistA Development Sandbox in Azure Cloud
The one-click deployment of VistA Development Sandbox in Azure Cloud is part of OSEHRA’s continuing effort to make the deployment of VistA easier for members of the VistA community. With an Azure account, a user now can deploy VistA with CPRS, Vitals, BCMA, and Synthea patient generator with a single click, and in about half an hour, a user can begin using all the applications without further setup.

Missing Maps Stirling Mapathon
Geographic information and technology specialist thinkWhere is supporting the global humanitarian Missing Maps project by hosting a series of mapathons in Stirling, Scotland. In the evening of 13th June 2018, around 50 local community volunteers, including members of the thinkWhere team, will collaborate on a crowd-sourced Missing Maps data capture project. The fourth event of its kind organised by thinkWhere, it will be the first to be held at the company’s new premises at CodeBase, Stirling.

OSEHRA's Open API and Open Architecture (OA2) Workgroup Purpose, Goals and Scope
Operational Healthcare IT systems in clinical facilities large and small commonly leverage a mix of Open Source, Commercial and custom built components. As the industry moves from closed monolithic EHRs toward a new era of Open APIs to integrate new applications with legacy systems the effort and risk of integrating those components together will be greatly reduced, but to be fully effective system designers and integrators must have more than a set of independent APIs.

OSEHRA Innovation Webinar on the VA's Recently Announced Lighthouse Project
On Tuesday, March 27, OSEHRA will present a special Innovation Webinar on the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ Lighthouse project, delivered by VA’s Drew Myklegard. Lighthouse is a proposed Application Programming Interface (API) management platform that allows developers to create mobile and web apps on a set of open standards based APIs including an initial FHIR endpoint. Lighthouse aims to both enable rapid innovation, and be veteran-centric, by giving developers the ability to design solutions that leverage VA data.

DXC Technology's Digital Health Platform
