Six U.S. Senators claim that the $35 billion Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Programs are not achieving their goals and require a “reboot.”
The senators outlined their concerns about the incentive programs in a 27-page whitepaper that they released to the public in mid-April. They also asked U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to provide a written plan addressing their concerns by June 16.
The senators include:
- John Thune (R-SD).
- Lamar Alexander (R-TN).
- Pat Roberts (R-KS).
- Richard Burr (R-NC).
- Tom Coburn (R-OK).
- Mike Enzi (R-WY).
