iPad Apps Provide Mobile Tools For Military Veterans' Caregivers

The Department of Veterans Affairs is working on a yearlong pilot to see how iPads help more than 1,000 family caregivers tend to injured post-9/11 veterans. The department has distributed 900 iPads to caregivers, and it's developing mobile apps to help veterans manage their care. These apps include a journaling tool that allows caregivers to track vital signs and patient-generated data, as well as a summary-of-care app that enables veterans and their caregivers to view lab results, medications, allergies, and information on past and upcoming appointments.
