OSEHRA 2012 Open Source EHR Summit Opens to Capacity Audience - Live Blog
The 1st Annual Open Source EHR Summit & Workshop opened to a capacity audience of nearly 400 participants today at the Gaylord National Conference center at National Harbor in Maryland today This is the conference held by Open Source Electronic Health Records Agent (OSEHRA) organization, the custodial agent of the code for the U.S Department of Veteran's Affairs' (VA) open source VistA EHR. The conference has a packed agenda with more that 30 speakers. We will be blogging live from the conference with a few bits and pieces and will follow up with a more extensive set of articles later on.

OSEHRA 2012 Summit A Great Success
The 1st Annual Open Source EHR Summit held this week at the Gaylord National Conference Center at National Harbor, just outside Washington D.C., was well attended by over 400 participants. The event was a huge success and many of the participants openly voiced the belief that this effect will be seen as the tipping point for open source in healthcare. It was "unbelievably cool" according to one of the participants, Todd Park, the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for the U.S. Government.
OSEHRA 2013: Oroville Hospital CEO To Reveal Key Factors Behind their Successful Open Source EHR Self-Implementation
Robert Wentz, President and CEO of Oroville Hospital, will be addressing the Plenary Session of the 2nd Open Source Electronic Health Record Agent (OSEHRA) conference in Bethesda, MD, on September 5th. Wentz will discuss the key factors behind the hospital's successful self-implementation of the open source VistA EHR for less than $13 million in total and less than $7 million for the EHR component. OSEHRA Is On the Move
OSEHRA is on the Move. As we clear the hurdles of establishing Governance structure, clarifying Vision, implementing work Processes, and employing our IT Infrastructure and Development Tools, we simultaneously are preparing ourselves for the long run with the Open Source community. April 2012 was a busy month. We began the month by convening our first meeting of the OSEHRA Board of Directors; General (Retired) James Peake, Mr. Michael O’Neill and Dr. John Halamka. This inaugural Board meeting marks our official emergence as an independent organization with its own governing board. We will publish the meeting minutes on our web-site.

OSEHRA 2012 Open Source Summit
The Open Source Electronic Health Records Agent (OSEHRA) will be hosting its First Annual Open Source EHR Summit & Workshop October 17 and 18, 2012, at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland. OSEHRA is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating an open source ecosystem around the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) world-class EHR, VistA. Since its creation a year ago by the VA, the organization has grown rapidly and now has more than 1,000 members. Members include a large number of private companies that are engaged in implementing VistA private sector hospitals and clinics, as well as in the large number of foreign countries that are adopting VistA. These solution providers are also developing a whole range of enhancements to the VistA core.

OSEHRA 2013 Open Source Summit
The 2nd Annual OSEHRA Summit & Workshop will be held September 4-6, 2013, in N. Bethesda, Maryland. OSEHRA Summit 2013 will include pre-conference tutorials on Open Source Software and Agile Software development concepts, technology and certification practices, followed by two days of Plenary Sessions and Educational Workshops keynoted by industry, academic and governmental leaders. The Summit is not just for the open source VistA community, but to everyone interested in learning more about Open Source and Agile Software development and furthering the convergence of emerging business models, Health Informatics, DoD/VA integrated Electronic Health Records (iEHR), public-private health information exchange, and more.
