OSEHRA 2017: Microsoft, OpenStack, IBM Support VistA in the Cloud
This year’s OSEHRA 2017 Open Source Summit proved to be another major milestone in the transition from locked-in vendor-controlled health information technology to an open solutions approach. One of the major news stories at the summit was the decision by Microsoft to join OSEHRA and collaborate with the Open Health community. Another major presentation was that of Martin Rice, Director of the Division of State System for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and Clyneice Chaney, Principal Systems Engineer. In their presentation (video* and PowerPoint*), Rice and Chaney described how CMS is transitioning to an open/modular approach to State Medicaid IT systems.

OSEHRA 2018 Call for Volunteers for the Leadership Awards Committee
OSEHRA is seeking volunteers from the community to serve on this year’s Leadership Awards Committee. Since 2014, OSEHRA has recognized individuals for their outstanding contributions and achievements within the Open Source Health IT Community. This year’s Committee is Co-Chaired by KRM Associates President, Mr. Keith McCall and OSEHRA General Member, Dr. Jack Taylor. The three OSEHRA Leadership Award categories are:

OSEHRA 2018 Leadership Award Recipients Recognized
OSEHRA recently announced this year’s 2018 Leadership Award recipients during our 7th Annual Open Source Summit. The OSEHRA community chose to honor four distinguished individuals based on their outstanding achievements in health information technology and contributions to innovative health care. Awardees were selected via a community nomination and election process. We would like to extend a thank you to the 2018 Awards Committee for its due diligence and commitment to the community. The Committee was co-chaired by Dr. Jack Taylor of InforMD, Inc. and Keith McCall of KRM Associates, Inc.

The Open Source Electronic Health Record Alliance (OSEHRA) is pleased to announce that it will host its 7th Annual Open Source Summit: The Open Road for Government Innovation from Wednesday, July 18 through Friday, July 20, 2018 at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center. OSEHRA 2018: Calling all Abstracts for the OSEHRA Summit
Plans for our 7th Annual Summit, The Open Road for Government Innovation, are well underway! This year's event will be held from July 18 - 20, 2018 and the Program Committee is looking forward to receiving an abundance of abstracts from the community. All are invited to participate and submit their proposals for presentation, poster, and/or roundtable discussion. All submissions are due no later than Friday, April 13, 2018.

OSEHRA 2019 Summit Dates Announced
Open Source Electronic Health Record Alliance (OSEHRA) is pleased to announce its 8th Annual Open Source Summit: Open SaaS - Open Source in the Cloud from Tuesday, July 9 through Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center, just north of Washington, D.C. This year's two-day Summit will showcase leading-edge, open source initiatives and highlight the increasing level of public-private partnership in major programs and agencies. Open source software has become key to both implementation and interoperability as more and more programs opt for cloud-based solutions and software-as-a-service delivery models. This Summit will address ways to optimize open source utilization and community involvement in this new playing field.

OSEHRA Releases popHealth v6.0
The Open Source Electronic Health Record Alliance (OSEHRA)...is pleased to announce the release of Version 6.0 of the popHealth open source clinical quality measure database and reporting engine. This new release is certified for the 2015 Edition Health IT Module certification for Clinical Quality Measure (CQM) reporting criteria...This release is the culmination of collective efforts by members of the OSEHRA popHealth Steering Work Group and the Developer Open Source Project Group. In particular, the Alabama Medicaid Agency provided all of development resources to achieve the certification for the 2019 performance period. Organizational Members Medsphere, Oroville Hospital, and Zato Health collaborated with other organizations in the community to provide expert advice and testing support.

OSEHRA's Synthetic Patient Data Project Group Releases End-to-End Open Source Patient Data Software Package
OSEHRA's Synthetic Patient Data Open Source Project Group is proud to announce the release of their end-to-end open source patient data software package. Sponsored by Perspecta Inc., an OSEHRA Organizational Member, this group has worked for more than a year to make it possible for users to generate, visualize, and ingest synthetic patient data with a single command. "The lack of realistic clinical data that mimics the volume, velocity, and variety of real-world patient records has been an impediment to health IT development, testing, and simulation," said Bo Dagnall, chair of the Project Group and Chief Technologist and Strategist for Perspecta's Health Business Group.
