Richard has been working in the User Experience field for nearly twenty years - holding an Honors degree in Communications and Computing with Human Factors from the London Guildhall University.
Originally from a business Travel background, Richard has redesigned booking processes and interfaces for self-service reservation products and account management software utilized at companies such as Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, and HSBC. He has worked on projects for corporates and design agencies across a variety of sectors - including e-Commerce websites attracting over $1m in investment. He specializes in working with client's product and project managers on gathering requirements and transforming them into usable interactive interface designs whether that is for the initial wireframes, process design, or more functional prototypes through to finished and polished designs
One of Richard’s most utilized designs was the agency award-winning car-sharing platform in the US, Europe, and Australia Hertz On Demand, that was dissolved and re-franchised in the UK and Australia in late 2015.
In 2005, Richard had the opportunity to venture into Healthcare came when he was recruited to work on part of the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) Project. However, he bypassed this opportunity in order to return to designing for Travel Management. While this project was focused mainly on travel apps, over the past years he has found himself focused on re-envisioning the interface for a patient claims system. In 2015 he was part of the team that worked on the research and redesign of a very widely utilized voice recording software product for clinical and legal environments.
Richard favors a pragmatic and strategic approach to improving usability and believes that research is essential for good user-centered design. Although for the first part of his career he worked a great deal on the interaction design and user-flow on software applications and websites, over the past four years he has been particularly focused on research - providing Heuristic reviews, analysis, and reporting and moderating user testing individually and on behalf of other User Experience agencies.
Richard has worked as a practitioner under the company name Visionär since 2005.
