Alliance Member Humetrix Testifies at House Small Business Subcommittee Hearing
Washington, D.C. (June 27, 2013) - Today Chris Burrow, Executive Vice President of Medical Affairs for Humetrix, testified on behalf of the Alliance at a House Small Business Subcommittee Hearing: "Mobile Medical App Entrepreneurs: Changing the Face of Healthcare." Burrow demonstrated the company's iBlueButton app, which gives patients streamlined, secure access to their own medical record, which they can then easily share with their doctor. Committee Chairman Rep. Chris Collins (R-NY) preside along with Ranking Committee member Rep. Janice Hahn (D-CA) who introduced Humetrix, a California company.
As a background to the Washington debate over a regulatory framework for mHealth technology, the hearing provided examples of key emerging technologies and the contributions that app developers are making to improve healthcare quality and reduce costs.
"It's very encouraging to see witnesses that are on the cutting edge and have the answers," said Reprentative Luetkemeyer. Committee Chairman Collins pointed out the importance of the Hearing, given that small business accounts for 60% of employees and 80% of new jobs today.
