CBORD and DSS Collaborate to Enhance the Patient Meal Experience for Veterans
ITHACA, N.Y., Jan. 12, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- CBORD®, the leading provider of clinical nutrition and foodservice software, and Document Storage Systems, Inc. (DSS), the leading provider of software development and support for VistA and vxVistA, announced today a partnership to develop a CBORD VistA interface is underway. This new interface will allow the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Centers (VAMC) to connect CBORD's state-of-the art Patient Foodservice Technology directly with VistA, the VA's electronic health record (EHR). This connection is made possible through DSS's integration with VistA. This partnership will provide a powerful new tool for VAMC management as it looks for ways to improve the level of service provided to veterans.
VA Hospitals are now able to Integrate CBORD Technology with VistA
CBORD has been helping hospitals across the country improve their patient satisfaction scores, increase patient nutrition and safety, and lower food costs. VA hospitals are now able to integrate CBORD technology with their VistA health records system, providing for real-time ADT and diet order updates. This interface is critical to ensure food safety and to streamline workflows. With the expertise of DSS and the functional expertise of CBORD, the VAMC now have the ability to implement CBORD's state-of-the-art patient meal service solutions.
"Patient engagement with meal orders is key to improving patient nutrition, safety, and overall satisfaction. Our partnership with DSS is a first step in providing veterans safe, nutritious meals and a more satisfying hospital experience," said Max Steinhardt, President of CBORD. "Working alongside DSS and foodservice directors from the VA, we will help drive a new level of clinical nutrition care to our nation's veterans ultimately paving the way for better outcomes and reduced readmissions."
CBORD Clinical Nutrition Solutions, Proven to Drive Patient Satisfaction Scores
CBORD's Nutrition Service Suite® (NSS) is the leading patient foodservice technology installed in more than 1,300 locations worldwide. When you connect to NSS, you connect with powerful clinical software designed to ensure all menu selections are compliant with a patient's prescribed diet.
In the past 10 years, hospitals have been moving to a variety of new patient meal ordering solutions often described as Room Service. CBORD initiated room service automation, supporting a variety of room service options that are proven to significantly increase patient satisfaction scores. Room Service Choice® from CBORD allows hospitals to tailor a program to fit their needs. With Room Service Choice, staff can now take this powerful technology on an iPad® or tablet, right to the patient's bedside.
Many hospitals are not able to change their kitchens to produce meals on-demand. Room Service Choice supports every cooking style, allowing mangers to choose to print orders directly to the kitchen, or hold and print for a traditional tray line. The system provides flexibility to schedule meals out, allowing patients to order ahead, or submit real-time for immediate delivery. This new mobile technology provides hospitals many more choices in how they provide a safe and satisfying meal ordering process for their patients.
"We're excited to partner with CBORD to help improve nutrition care, meal safety, and patient satisfaction for our nation's veterans," said Mark Byers, CEO and President of DSS. "By working to integrate the CBORD nutrition solutions with VistA, we're able to help provide a more comprehensive picture of veterans' health for more targeted care delivery."
