Department Of Veterans Affairs Accelerates Use Of DecisionSim To Improve Patient Outcomes
CHADDS FORD, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Decision Simulation LLC, the leading provider of cloud and mobile simulation platforms, announced today that the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has awarded a contract to Team DecisionSim to supplement the VA’s internal efforts by developing additional clinical simulations on the DecisionSim™ platform. DecisionSim is a VA enterprise simulation platform and in the past year, over 22,000 VA employees have utilized the DecisionSim simulations.
The relationship between the VA and Decision Simulation began in 2011 when the VA launched a pilot program using the DecisionSim platform to progress the VA’s efforts with SimLEARN, a national program furthering the advancement of simulation training and education. Based on the success of the pilot, in 2012, the VA signed a five-year, enterprise-wide contract with Decision Simulation to extend access to all VA employees.
The VA has been at the forefront of employing simulation to improve outcomes. DecisionSim has been leveraged in a variety of clinical areas including patient safety, women’s health, palliative care and specialty care. The VA has blended DecisionSim with other simulation modalities and is applying DecisionSim in team training and communication skills training. The VA has also developed and deployed DecisionSim simulations in non-clinical areas such as human resources and operations.
“We are excited about the VA’s continued expansion of DecisionSim and are honored to be a valued partner in the VA’s effort to improve patient care. By utilizing DecisionSim, VA healthcare professionals and staff will be better equipped to meet the needs of all Veterans and continually improve patient outcomes,” said James B. McGee, MD, Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board at Decision Simulation.
This expansion of the relationship, and the recent incorporation of DecisionSim into the VA’s broader EES organization, will allow the VA to accelerate the use of DecisionSim and therefore its value.
“This acceleration of DecisionSim demonstrates its value to help improve and assess decision-making,” said Bob Yayac, CEO of Decision Simulation. “DecisionSim offers the broadest education and training simulation platform with the easiest authoring and the richest insights. And we provide the best service and support.”
Team DecisionSim is led by Decision Simulation LLC, the developers of DecisionSim; Catapult Technology LTD, the prime contractor for this award and for the VA’s enterprise license of DecisionSim; and Simulation Learning LLC, a sister company to Decision Simulation that provides simulation development services. The team will be supported by organizations including The SALUS Group, AXDEV Group and the University of Central Florida’s Mixed Emerging Technology Integration Lab (METIL).
