DSS, Inc. Presents a Panel Discussion on vxVistA.org at OSCON 2010

VistA experts discuss the use of vxVista.org with Atlassian collaboration tools to build an online community for users and developers.

DSS, Inc., a provider of software, integration, installation, project management, training, support and development of VistA, today announced it will present on the vxVistA.org open-source collaboration community at the 2010 O’Reilly Open Source Convention (OSCON) on July 22, in Portland, Ore.

The presenters consist of leading vxVistA experts for DSS, including Deanne Clark, product manager for Commercial VistA systems, Hugh Creedon, operations manager for DSS and Clinical Psychologist, formerly at Hines VA Hospital, and J.D. Keith, vxVistA network architect. The presenters will discuss the use of vxVista.org to enhance the collaborative experience of vxVistA open source EHRs for present and future users and developers, and explore the integration of Atlassian Web tools to enhance the Open Source community’s collaborative developmental efforts.

The presenters will delve into the use and development of vxVistA.org with Atlassian tools to support community members to:

  • Participate in the enhancement process
  • Share ideas and best practices

  • Develop new modules and functionalities
  • Create new GUI Mockups
  • Design and improve workflow processes
  • Report and track bugs and issues
  • Develop relevant Wiki’s and FAQ’s
  • Promote professional services and new modules


OSCON is an annual convention developed to advance the discussion and share information surrounding open source computing, from administration to Web applications. For 2010, OSCON has identified a special track to focus on open source development for healthcare.
