The tranSMART Platform Wins Three Awards at the Bio-IT World Conference & Expo
Open-Source Knowledge Management Platform Wins Best-of-Show Award and Used on Winning Projects of the Best Practices and Best Poster Awards
WAKEFIELD, MA--(Marketwired - Apr 28, 2015) - The tranSMART Foundation, a non-profit organization providing a global, open-source knowledge management platform for scientists to share pre-competitive translational research data, today announced that its platform won three awards at the Bio-IT World Conference & Expo April 21-23, 2015 in Boston, Mass., including Best-of-Show, Best Practices and Best Poster Awards.
The tranSMART Platform v1.2 won the Best-of-Show Award in the Informatics & Data Tools category honoring exceptional innovation in technologies used by life science professionals.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation won a Best Practices Award Judges' Prize for its use of the tranSMART platform in Parkinson's disease research working with Thomson Reuters. The Best Practices Awards highlight outstanding examples of technology innovation in the life sciences, from basic R&D to translational medicine. The tranSMART-based U-BIOPRED Study was a 2014 Best Practices Award winner.
In addition to the Best-of-Show and Best Practices awards, the hyve, a Silver member of the tranSMART Foundation, won the Best Poster Award at the conference for its poster titled "Multi-omics data analysis in tranSMART using the Cell Line Use Case dataset" in the Dutch CTMM Translational Research IT (TraIT) project.
