RFID in Health Care 2012

RFID Journal announced today that registration is now open for RFID in Health Care 2012, a conference focused on how health-care providers employ radio frequency identification technologies to lower costs and improve patient outcomes. The event will be held on Sept. 6, 2012, at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel and Towers, located in Massachusetts.

This year's event will feature leading hospital executives explaining how they use RFID to improve asset-utilization rates, reduce expenses and improve patient outcomes, and will provide a unique learning experience for health-care executives. In addition, early adopters will share the results of real-world deployments, and answer questions regarding the benefits they have achieved from employing RFID.

Attendees will gain valuable insights into the proper RFID technologies to utilize for various applications, and will learn how to avoid common pitfalls. This event—located in Boston, the epicenter of the U.S. health-care industry—will combine thought-provoking presentations, expert panelists and an exhibit area showcasing the latest RFID solutions for that sector. Those in attendance will also have the opportunity to meet leading technology companies and view their latest solutions.

Confirmed speakers include Lynne Briggs, the VP and CIO at BloodCenter of Wisconsin (see Wisconsin Blood-Tracking Study Moves to Phase 2), which is pioneering the use of RFID for the tracking of blood products for transfusion; Clive P. Hohberger, the Wisconsin blood center's RFID systems architect; Todd Pawlicki, the director of the University of California, San Diego's division of medical physics, in the department of radiation oncology; and Mark Roberti, RFID Journal's founder and editor.

"This is our eighth event focused on RFID in the health-care sector," Roberti states. "As in previous years, attendees will have a chance to hear from other hospital executives, and to meet RFID technology providers with solutions designed specifically for health-care applications.
