Prince Mahidol Award Conference (PMAC) 2017 is the tenth annually-held international conference of its kind sponsored by the Thai Government to commemorate Prince Mahidol of Songkla’s contributions to medicine and public health in Thailand, to honor outstanding workers and researchers in the area of population health, and bring international leaders and stakeholders in public health together to discuss high priority health issues.

PMCA 2017’s theme this year is the health and social inclusion of vulnerable populations, including displaced populations such as refugees or migrant workers, discriminated-against or stigmatized groups, and dependent populations such as those who are impoverished, elderly, or disabled. The goal of this year’s conference is to shed light on the causes and consequences exclusion has on the health of vulnerable populations, to share policies and programs that have been implemented to advance social inclusion for vulnerable populations and thereby to improve their health, and to advance policy opportunities that will result in engaging marginalized populations in ways that will ultimately result in improving health.
