High Turnover of EHR Vendors According to KLAS Report
The game is still afoot for a swarm of electronic health-record system developers—in particular those that don't have the best-known brands, according to the latest report from KLAS Enterprises on the ambulatory EHR market. KLAS, an Orem, Utah-based health information technology market researcher, found that turnover of systems is a huge ambulatory EHR market factor. The company said that half of the providers it interviewed for its report were considering dumping their current EHRs and buying something different.
Turnover turmoil is concentrated among midsized and larger practices, according to KLAS, as a majority of smaller practices are focusing on buying their first EHR system. "Provider consideration for vendors outside the 11 most-considered solutions has increased in the past year from 49% to 64%," according to the 13-page KLAS report, Ambulatory EMR Perception 2012: Market Splitting Under Adoption Pressure. The report draws on interviews with 318 office-based practice providers in the market for an EHR system.
