VistA Could Still Become DoD EHR

The Defense Department may select the Veterans Affairs Department's electronic health record system when it procures its EHR, VA Secretary Eric Shinseki said during a House hearing March 13.
The two departments had pursued a single, integrated EHR, but decided last year to forgo those plans and instead aim for two separate but interoperable systems. DoD plans to acquire a commercial EHR, and Shinseki said the VA's EHR, known as VistA, will compete to be DoD's pick.
